Experience - Canceled Projects

Following is a list of all projects that were dropped, I resigned from or didn't take place together with a short description what the project was, what my role was / would have been, a note of reasoning and a short add-on from my end stating what I took away from that experience.

Please note that there won't be any names of moderators and no-one will be made responsible for the following cancellations. I don't hold a grudge to anyone and even if the following projects weren't a success generally or only on my end I don't hold anything bad against any of these projects, the involved moderators or contributors.

Review:

The Women! Wanted Zine was my first ever zine and probably to this day still the one I'm proudest of. It looks absolutely stunning, the quality of all the items is amazing all around and I learned a ton of stuff in this project.
I met some amazing people that I soon re-met in bunch of different projects and I'm thankful that I had such a great project as introduction to the Zine-World, even if it was hella lot for a first off.

This project was also very organised and I still to this day hold it as reference for a lot of ways I go in projects organisation. The Drive was clean, schedules, dates, guides were all stated clear and the discord was easy to navigate even with it's size and the contributor count.

Everyone worked well and looking back after i've done more projects I am baffled as how little problems we had. We never really had to hunt contributors down, most people kept the deadlines and the mods all did their job quick and well. The teamwork was functioning on high levels and it was an absolute amazing atmosphere to work in.

The quality of all the merch and the zine itself where also very high-quality. The Zine itself had amazing paper and still holds in my small collection spot for the best manufacturing. Pricewise we were also very reasonable, especially considering how many many items we had.

Review:

The Fashion Dawn Zine was definetely something different from my first ever experience. It was definetely a wild ride and we had one and the other problem facing us, but it was an interesting challenge getting over those and pushing on with the project.

The organisation surely was a bit more wonky than in the Women!Wanted Zine, especially with 2 of originally 5 mods basically ghosting us and dropping completely in the end, leaving instead of a full mod team a small scrapped trio behind.

However even with the team reduction we managed to pull this project through, taking over roles that originally weren't ours and still doing our very best to fullfil them - mostly with success.

The shipping with COVID at this moment is a bit icky and also intern there were some problems and confusions with it, but it went on and we managed to get back on track.

In total it definetely wasn't as well organised as Women!Wanted, but it for sure had it's own charm and style and worked out great in the end with lots of new experiences to learn from.

Review:

Boss Rush was a small but pleasent experience, it was a nice change to only be on the Contributors end for once.

The project was organized very well, even with just one Moderator on the team. The feedback wasn't very constructive but it was still nice to receive some kind of comment.

As said a small but nice project and I'm glad to have been part of this niche little collection :)

Review:

The Left4Dead was a small but niche project! It was short but went all in all well, although I didn't had to participate much to it. We had great contributors who also bought in a lot of ideas and set up a lot of the merch by themselves with just a bit of guidance from the mods.

It seemed a bit disorganized from time to time but altogether it worked really well and ended with a nice zine!

Review:

Children of the Forest started with a bit of a harsh issue where mods had been accepted into positions and then shortly after replaced due to an acceptance-error. It got settled really peaceful though and even when I personally got bumped down from General/Organisational Moderator and Art Moderator to Art and Organisation intern. It was an understandable choice since the other had more experience to offer so it was a decision in the favor of the zine that no-one held any grudges against.

After that rocky start it went really well though and the mod team handled everything really well, the contributors where all pretty much always on time and it was organized well.

The product looks very nice and even if it also was a very small project, I'm glad I was able to help out, even if only from time to time as an intern.

Review:

As many others, One Piece SEASONS was a wild ride. The old mod team kicked the project and half the contributors jumped off then too, leaving some new mods including me having to come in anew and casting new people within the shortest time. That was the first time I did something like that and it was amazing and awfully stressful equally, but it also thought reassuring things. There were a lot of incredibly motivated and dedicated people, which made it possible to even get this started again after firstly being abandoned.
In the end this turned into an amazing adventure and project and it was a lot of fun to work on - even if it sometimes cost blood and tears, but which Zine doesn't.
The quality of the finished things are great and it's amazing holding the Zine i formatted in my own hands. Incredible project, works and people.

Review:

Strawberry Lemonade was a really cool and fun project with an amazing team. The Mods behind this were all extremly engaged and hands on, timely and well managed and worked really great as a team and on their own. The contributors were working hard too and worked well with received feedback.
At the start were some minor issues about how to submit the checkins, but that was resolved in the next checkin without any problems, making the whole process easier for the contributors.
The end project is amazing and has great quality and i am still amazed as to how much merch got produced for this digital only project.
